FAQS
What products do you use?
At Betty's Aesthetics we use Restylane and Intraline for dermal fillers. These are both non-animal derived, cross-linked hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers, which gives plumper and longer lasting results. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally produced by your body. Over time, your body will break down and fully reabsorb the HA gel.
For our anti-wrinkle treatments we use Azzalure and Bocouture, which are local muscle relaxants adapted from the botulinum neuromodulator type-A of Dysport, and is specifically designed for use in aesthetic indications.
Will it hurt?
For lip fillers we will provide you with a topical numbing cream which should be applied at least ten minutes before your treatmet. Our dermal fillers also contain Lidocaine which is an anaesthetic, which further helps numb the area being treated as we inject.
Anti-wrinkle treatments use a very fine needle so pain is minimal. You may feel a slight sting during the treatment.
How long does the procedure take?
We allow 45 minutes for each appointment. This allows time for numbing (fillers only), discussing your requirements, injecting, and aftercare. Injecting will only take around 15 minutes.
How long will the results last?
On average you can expect fillers to last around 10 months, and anti-wrinkle injections 3-5 months.
Can I have fillers if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
There have been little to no studies done to show if it is safe for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding to have the treatment. Therefore we cannot provide fillers to those who are.
Will I experience bruising or swelling after fillers?
Due to the anaesthetic in the gel, you may feel numbness or tingling immediately after the procedure & have some moderate swelling, redness, bruising & tenderness over the areas treated. Some people experience a dull ache & tenderness over the treated areas, which subsides between 48-72 hours. Mild, non- painful swelling can last for up to 2 weeks. Bruising is usually visible initially, then more obvious the next day, before fading over 7-14 days. A small minority of bruises can last for 4-6 weeks. You can use a cold compress to help reduce swelling and arnica cream and a warm compress to help reduce bruising.
How long will it be before I start to see results?
The results of fillers are instant.
For anti-wrinkle injections you can expect to see the full effect after 2 weeks post treatment.
Are there any things I can do to prepare for fillers or anti-wrinkle injections?
Don't wax, tweeze, bleach, or use hair removal products on the treatment area for at least two days before the treatment and 3 days after.
Topical products containing active ingredients such as retinol, vitamin c and glycolic acid should also be avoided during this time.
Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 48 hours before your procedure, as alcohol will thin your blood, which means there is far more likelihood of you experiencing bruising.
